New Underpass Leads Way To A Bright Future In WVMS Return!

(Middlebourne, WV) –  It took little time for good news to travel fast! A spot on expression of little surprise when news broke of the re-opening efforts and big plans for the West Virginia Motor Speedway’s return in 2021.  Social media swiftly and successfully ‘shared’ in the excitement.

A key part of the tracks opportunity to swing open the gates once more actually started in 2015. When the famous and primary “gateway” to the speedway (aka as the underpass) had began an incredible transformation.  The State of West Virginia took the vehicular culvert that runs underneath Interstate 77 just north of the facility into major surgery early that spring.  The finished result the following year, a fully concrete structure that ushers in unlimited potential for the 70-acre entertainment complex.

A completely new entrance now awaits the masses upon the speedways revival.  The rebuilt access underpass now stands beautifully. Allowing all vehicles an effortless arrival, one only available to small personal vehicles since its opening in 1985.

As the speedways new management embarks on the endeavor a huge sigh of relieve has already been had.  WVMS Promotions and company knew of the past concerns from mandating a more rural entry for its past participants.  That giant ‘path’ has now already been crossed.

“It’s like a bright new world at the end of the small tunnel for the speedways future” stated Watson. “I know in the past that challenged race teams. Thankfully, that worry for them is no more” added Watson. “It’s incredible…it really is.  It’ll be so much easier for the teams to access our facility now. The main road leads them right into the pit gates and can be reached just a mile or so from exit 170 off I-77” concluded, Watson.

The new management group has measured the underpass just ensure that no problems would arise. That measurement went awesome, at 16′ 6”, a mark well above the motorsports transporters of today which presently sit around the legal level of 13 foot. In addition, the underpass is twenty five feet crosswise conveniently accommodating two lanes of steady traffic.

Furthermore, the small wooden bridge was also replaced with a new box beam and concrete platform. Built solidly to withstand heavier traffic.  The collection of improvements creates an incredibly strong pathway for the speedways future success. Now on the western side of the underpass Watson says “the sky is the limit”.
